With Shadia Qubti and Tony Deik

Over the past few months, there has been a lot in the news about changes and issues in Palestine-Israel. Whether you know a lot or a little about what’s going on in this region of the world, it’s important to stay informed and engage with people from the context in order to grow in understanding, prayer, and action that can further peace building efforts and positive change.

No matter where you are on this journey, INFEMIT has some helpful videos through which you can explore and learn more by listening to Palestinian Christians, Shadia Qubti and Tony Deik.

Watch this video to learn about the history of Palestine-Israel.

Watch this video on Challenges and Prospects to Peacebuilding in Palestine-Israel. Shadia and Tony share about the ongoing colonization in the lands of Palestine, aided by Christian Zionist theologies that fail to see God’s image in the Palestinians. Reconciliation for those who live in a constant state of colonial violence and oppression must include justice: true peace will be built on the rights and the restoration of the wellbeing of these communities.

If you’ve already engaged in previous INFEMIT conversations on these topics, we also have something new to share this week. In this video, Shadia and Tony talk about additional challenges to peacebuilding in the context of Israel-Palestine, especially the spread of misinformation and our attitudes towards “truth” in relation to the history of the conflict.

Watch here.

Let’s continue this conversation and take a journey together to deepen our understanding of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, especially as we hear from our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

These conversations were held in the context of INFEMIT’s Stott-Bediako Forum on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation from a lens of Postcolonialism and Indigenous Christianity. The views and opinions expressed in these interviews are those of the interviewees and do not necessarily reflect an official position of INFEMIT. We seek to foster reflection through conversation, and ask you to be respectful and constructive in your comments.
