In this chapter, which follows the development of the Lausanne Movement, INFEMIT’s Al Tizon reflects on the effects this movement has had as it has consistently brought together global leaders to gather and network to impact the scope of world missions. Lausanne early gatherings pointed toward a need for holistic ministry, combining evangelism and social action. In a 1982 consultation in Bangkok, Thailand, a group of Two Thirds World theologians discerned a need for discussions that were framed and organized from Global South perspectives, which led to the formation of INFEMIT. Since then, INFEMIT has sought to advance its mission, which is currently explained as follows:
Called and equipped by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we are a Gospel-centered fellowship of mission theologian-practitioners that serves local churches and other Christian communities so we together embody the Kingdom of God through transformational engagement, both locally and globally
