INFEMIT is a community committed to growing together through deep theological reflection and practice in order to serve the Church, locally and globally. We invite you to belong and to get more involved in this fellowship.
The International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation (INFEMIT) has never been a membership-based organization. Historically, we have always been loosely organized around a Networking Team of regional representatives and regional fellowships that share our vision. While this is still a key component of our community, we realize that many of you look for ways to more meaningfully connect and belong to this community.
For this reason, INFEMIT has decided to rethink the way we define “belonging” to our community. We are not moving toward formal membership – we do not want to charge fees – but we want to make it clear how you can be a part of and get involved in the International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation.
WHO CAN BELONG?
- Regional Theological Fellowships
- Seminaries or Universities
- NGO’s
- Churches
- Individuals
- And more…
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BELONG?
You hold a commitment to “Mission as Transformation;” you are passionate about growing in deep theological reflection and practice within your church and society; and you desire to grow in fellowship with other theologian-practitioners in your region and beyond. Perhaps you have found INFEMIT to be a kind of “home” for your work, faith, and theology. To belong, you must adhere to INFEMIT’s vision and mission and desire to live according to these in your context. We have no other requirements other than that you explicitly affirm these things (and if you are an institution or a network, that you do so by institutional consensus, expressed by your board president and director).
Belonging can also open opportunities for you to get more involved with INFEMIT. We will start off by connecting you with the Networking Team representative or fellowship in your region and providing you with a small packet of resources that can help you explore more deeply INFEMIT’s identity, historically and today. At the same time, there are many ways in which you can expand your involvement with us:
- Subscribe to our emails: keep up-to-date about our programs and any opportunities to connect or attend events. You will also receive resources, such as articles and books that may be helpful to you.
- Join our Facebook Community: dialogue and share resources with others online through social media.
- Attend our events: the best way to truly get connected is to join in fellowship with others. Consider attending the Stott-Bediako Forum, an open event that we hold regularly. As long as you are on our mailing list, you will receive notifications about this event and other global and regional gathering that arise.
- Identify yourself: We encourage you to share specific personal information with us, so that we can get in touch with you about more specific opportunities as they come up. This information includes: a list of topics central to your work or research, your age, whether you have interest in collaborating with us in any special projects (publications, theological education, blog, events), and any special abilities you might like to volunteer in support of our community.
- Contact us: Let us know if you have any further ideas or hopes for collaboration with us.*
- Donate: We encourage all who are able to consider giving toward INFEMIT. Your gifts can help participants who need scholarships to attend our events and ensure that we can continue to move forward specific projects that advance a vision of mission as transformation.
- Share: Let others know about INFEMIT who might also find encouragement by belonging to our community.
*The INFEMIT Networking Team representatives and friends who adhere to this movement are all volunteers. Please recognize that we are limited by time and resources, but we will do our best to consider any ideas.
